Finisher’s medals to all members! Team awards 10 deep in all 3 categories. Men's, Women's, Mixed (at least two women).

Team Relay

A team of five runners will cover the entire 26.2 mile distance. Each runner will run at least one leg of 4.9 – 5.6 miles, handing off a timing chip to the next team member at each relay exchange zone. If you end up race day with less than 5 on your team someone can run consecutive legs to get R done, no division for teams with less than 5 but you get the satisfaction of your effort!

Numbers and Timing Chip:

Team members must wear a race number visible on their front. Team members must also wear a "RELAY" bib on their back. Each team will be given one TIMING CHIP attached to a Velcro strap. This strap should be worn around the runner's ankle. The runner must cross over the timing pad at each relay exchange zone, remove the Velcro strap with the timing chip, and hand it off to the next runner. The next runner should attach the strap around his/her ankle before proceeding to the next exchange zone. The timing computer can only read a chip that passes within a foot of the timing pad. Practice! Any missed mats, including the finish line, will disqualify the team.

Shuttle Buses

The shuttle buses will return all participants back to the start/finish area.
The buses will leave from the staging area (In front of Registration building) beginning at 6:30am. Last chance 7:15am!!

Relay exchange Zones

Corrals are available at each relay exchange point. All team members must remain in or behind the corrals until their team member arrives at the exchange zone. RELAY TEAM MEMBERS MUST KEEP THE EXCHANGE ZONES AND THE MARATHON COURSE CLEAR.

Exchange points:
Leg # Begins at Approx. Leg Distance
1 Starting Line (mile 0.0) 4.9
2 Telegraph (Woodbine) 5.6
3 Ann Arbor Trail(Nankin Mills) 5.2

RELAY FAQ:

Do we need five runners? No, but there is no discount or award category, but you can still win the regular category awards! Example, 4 women run and beat all 5 women teams.

Can I drive to the exchange zones? There will be no parking available but you can get dropped off … or picked up.

Are there shelters at the exchange zones? The shuttle buses will be available for shelter for the relay people. There will be port-o-jons.

Returning relay runners: Shuttle buses will return to the finish with relay runners who have completed their leg once the bus is full (or the last relay runner has completed the leg). If runners wish to return sooner than the bus is scheduled, runners must make their own transportation arrangements. Please remember there is no Relay Team Run-In. Any team that has more than one member crossing the finish line will be disqualified. That runner should receive medals for the entire team.

Sweats and Personal Items: The Marathon will not be responsible for the movement of sweats or personal items of relay runners. It is up to each team to figure out how to pass on sweats and personal items. DO NOT LEAVE PERSONAL ITEMS AT THE RELAY EXCHANGES, WE HAVE NO WAY OF INSURING THEIR SECURITY AND WILL NOT ASSUME ANY LIABILITY

Deadlines:
Team additions, changes, or substitutions can be made online until Wednesday April 7th, or in person on Friday April 9th. Team entry closes on Wednesday April 7th.
