Mini Martian 2009 is in the books - or the space logs - and a good time was had by all. Here's what you had to say:

I just wanted to let you know what a blast my boys and I had at your event this weekend. I ran the 10k and my 7 & 9 year olds ran the kids marathon. Actually... my 9 year old trained all winter for the the marathon. My 7 year old decided at the expo on Friday night that he wanted to do it. Yes he kicked both our asses! Not sure if it's because his name is Randy. Anyway... this was a huge ordeal for my 9 year old, who struggles with speed & coordination, just like his mother. All winter I kept trying to explain that often times the best part of the run is the feeling of the accomplishment. I don't think he really got that, obviously because he's 9 and many of those miles were logged on the treadmill. I think he finally connected the dots. He had a blast. He came down that hill saying "momma if I make it to that bridge I can make it to the finish". He said "I was scared to death, but I ended up having a blast." Both kids said they can't wait until their next race. Thank you sooo much for that. The Martian theme was right up their alley.

If I can add one more thing... I am 43 and I haven't run in races for about 25 years. Last August I did my first sprint tri and the T-Rex. That was my first race. This was my second. You guys put on an awesome event. Both were such a good time!!

Thanks for making health a fun thing for my kids. Us parents need all the help we can get when it comes to this stuff.

Thanks again-

I wanted to take a moment once again to thank you for the great weekend of racing and running. Due to a nagging injury I was unable to meet my goal of running the half marathon, however, more importantly, I was able to run with my daughter in her first race ever. The mini marathon was great and it was hard to say who had more fun, me or her, although the best part was finding that “thing” that she and I can do together. The 25 miles of training were some of the best moments I have had with her and the day after the race she was eager to continue our “training runs”. It is safe to say that she is now a runner and she is eager to move on to more runs and races. Also, her little brother Brennan is anxious to get in on the action and is already talking about how he wants to run the mini next year. Clearly the benefits of running extend far beyond my own personal health, but now onto my children and their well being. Thank you for your enthusiasm and your eagerness to promote running through great events like the Martian festival. I am a details guy and it looked like a huge amount of work went into this weekend, you and your team should be congratulated. Have a great day.

The Martian Marathon was the first time my son (age 9) participated in a race. He loved it! The shirt, the medal, the stuffed aliens, the experience of running a race and doing well......it was fantastic. I am happy he has found a sport that he connects with, the look on his face after the race said it all. The event was well organized and everyone was friendly and helpful. We will be back next year! And in the meantime, we will be checking the running fit website for other races.

Thank you
